We are always looking to recruit qualified and highly motivated
graduate students.
Currently, we have openings for students to work in the following areas:
Stability and phase behavior of complexes between lipid membranes and
associated biopolymers
Sylvio May
Simulation of phase separating fluids in a temperature ramp
using the lattice Boltzmann method

Alexander Wagner
Development of a viscoelastic lattice Boltzmann method for
multicomponent fluids

Alexander Wagner
Studies of phase behavior of charged colloids, polyelectrolytes,
and colloid-polymer mixtures using theoretical and computational methods

Alan Denton
Simulations of active polymers: microtubuli and actin networks
Thomas Ihle
Development of mesoscale, particle-based simulation methods for complex
fluids
Thomas Ihle
Requirements for all of these positions include
a good knowledge of statistical mechanics and
computer programming skills.
We encourage you to send informal enquiries about

To formally apply, please submit the application materials to the
NDSU Graduate School.
These materials include the
Graduate Application and the
Graduate Assistantship in Physics Form,
which are in .pdf format.
Deadlines for Graduate applications:
All application materials are due one month before registration for
U.S. students. For international students, all materials must be
received by the Graduate School prior to May 1 for Fall Semester
and prior to September 1 for Spring Semester.
The Graduate School's application fee is $35.00 plus a $10 processing
fee. International applicants must pay an additional transcript
evaluation fee of $15. Admission requirements include a bachelor's
degree in physics with a grade point average of at least 3.0. Students
from non-English-speaking countries must pass the TOEFL exam with a
score of at least 550 (=215 computer based). The official score must
be sent through ETS. You will need to know that the institutional code
for NDSU is 6474 and the code for the Physics department is 0808. The
general and subject GREs are strongly recommended.
NDSU is an equal opportunity institution.
